These are some 10 ideas compiled from various parents that we hope you will find useful.

1. The great outdoors! Do an outdoor activity together. This can be a walk, a run, a hike or a bike ride.

2. Discuss what boundaries are and how these carry a positive intent for the child/youth. An example could be setting consistent sleeping schedules as research shows good quality sleep will allow a child/youth to develop well and boost their immune system, while also enhancing cognitive functions like memory, focus, and learning.

3. Agree on a digital use contract that will govern how technology and devices are used meaningfully. An example of an agreement is found here.

4. Devices time-out at meal times! This can apply to the whole family to be present to each other whilst having a meal.

5. Setting the intention of being thoughtful. What could be one thing we start the day thinking about doing that could be considered thoughtful?

6. Play music that will complement focus! Research indicates that
instrumental music, particularly classical and lo-fi beats, enhances focus and memory by reducing stress without introducing distracting lyrics. Optimal study music is generally soft, consistent, and fast-paced to maintain cognitive arousal, aiding in both concentration and task endurance.

7. Consider how our children/youth is using social media and discuss early an opportunity to befriend each other and how parent and child/youth can connect with each other.

8. Have open conversations around what is being searched online (search histories can tell alot about what is going through our minds).

9. Create family projects together! These can be a journal, a video project, or a compilation of favourite photos each month.

10. Learn together. How about learning a foreign language together? It could be Japanese, Korean, French or something that has piqued the family's interest from a tour. Or it can be many of the free courses that are online and there's always something for the family!
